Feeling Youthful - Dandelion Seeds

Just wanted to share a quick photo with you on Shooting My Journey... It's just one simple photograph but to me it is so much more!!

How much fun were dandelion seeds when we we’re little!? Picking and blowing, spreading the seeds like wildfire for our parents to slave over the weeds in the garden during the summer!? Lol, what fun!

Taken with my Nikon 1 with a shutter speed of about 1/125 and an aperture F/4.5 of gives this photo not only depth but colour and a strong focal point. The green bursts out of this photo yet I don’t think it overpowers the delicate light colours of the seeds. What do you think?

I was quite lucky as a child growing up in London with quite a big back garden, big enough to put up one of those kids paddling pools and still have enough room to run around! These seed buds have always reminded me of my childhood. The feelings of being carefree, curious and happy; hot days, BBQs and getting ready for the summer fun ahead!

It makes me sad sometimes that I don’t enjoy the simple things in life as much as I used to. Things like bubbles, empty boxes and Haribo lol, but these always make me smile and remember to slow down, look around and just enjoy life!

I hope this photo will inspire you to go out and find something so simple that can make one so happy. Or just go and do something silly like put a whoopee cushion on your boss’s chair  Just keep it simple and see how much fun you will have!!

Until next time x

Lazy Dog Photography

I wanted to share these beautiful photos I took of some very special dogs to me here with you on Shooting My Journey. And I thought no better way than to showcase them along side a poem I'm quite fond of that I think fits just perfectly.... Enjoy x

Sleep my fellow sleep
Your eyes are bulging
Your body is craving for
Sleep my fellow sleep

Your eyelids are wary
They feel so heavy
Sleep my fellow sleep

You force them open
But their doors still closing
Sleep my fellow sleep

Your conscience has departed
You see nothing but blackness
Sleep my fellow sleep

Your head gains weight
And drops ‘til you wake
Sleep my fellow sleep

You rise to your bed
Give in and drop dead
You are asleep my fellow
Asleep.
